ABOUT US

Since the inception of the University in 1962, the University has been facilitating staff training and development programmes which were mainly domiciled with the Management of the institution in general but in particular with the Vice-chancellor, through the Registrar.

All the training and development activities metamorphosed into the University Staff Training Unit, before its transformation into a Centre. The Centre has a dedicated building and facilities at its present location, opposite the Faculty of Science Complex which was commissioned in 1999 by the then Lagos State Governor (Colonel then) Major-General Buba Marwa (Rtd) after a complete overhaul of the existing structures, mandate appraisal as well as policy framework.

The policy framework for the realization of training and development goals and objectives are captured in the University’s Strategic Plan. The Vice-Chancellor as the arrow head of the policy, superintends the execution of the policy on staff training and development. The Vice-Chancellor is supported on the training and development programmes by the Registrar and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services) with Head of Staff training and Development Centre under the direct supervision of the Registrar. The Governing Council is involved in the policy framework and budget approval from time to time.

We do the following:Facilitates needs assessment to identify the training needs of the employees
